You may by now have detected a theme to this part of the trip.....turtles appear to be to Hawaii as tailor shops were to Vietnam. While Andrew went off to enjoy the delights of tropical golf, Tracey continued the Turtle Quest, this time to Punalu'u Beach, about 1.5 hours to the south of the island.
Punalu'u didn't disappoint, it is known for it's intensely black sand and the turtles that like to bask in the sun on it's shores. Within minutes of arriving the first turtle was spotted, five in total were hanging out along the beach.
Having the luxury of a few hours for lunch, we took on the challenge of a two-course lunch in the USA. Past Foodivore followers may wonder why this is such a challenge, in view of some of our French indulgences. However we've rapidly become aware of the sizable portions to be expected, and to get through more than a single course requires a decent pause in between.
We chose Fish Hopper, which we'd been eying off for some days - and it didn't disappoint (although we question some of the breakfast options, not that we had to go there).
